Graphic Novel Art Adventures continue...
Graphic novels, time-lapse, pine-martens, and Dam Keeper 3
Well, my two pitches are into my agent, so it’s time to get back to writing my regular newsletter, while I continue to work on #1.
If you’d like to support me in my work, I’ve also just set up a page on Ko-fi. Any support goes a long way - and thank you!
Here’s a little work-in-progress from my latest graphic novel pitch. The main character is a pine marten (a member of the weasel family). In the short video below, she’s trying to learn self-defense from a Victorian self-defense book, just before she heads out on an adventure at sea. The book has examples of things like defending yourself with an umbrella or hat pin.
Here’s a real pine marten in the wild:
They’re pretty cute, but ferocious fighters and clever.
One of my favorite graphic novel discoveries lately has been Robert Kondo and Dice Tsutsumi’s The Dam Keeper trilogy. This is a series that is beautiful on every level, from storytelling to artwork to heart.
